Hi Laura, Christine and I wanted to say hello and send our best thoughts your way. We keep checking in at your web site for updates.
The teen room continues to be very well loved and used every day. It's been great to have a special place for teens on the 8th floor. We're getting ready for the snow tomorrow. Hi Laura, I am missing you, your mom and sister, very much. I am glad that you are in NY and know that all of these treatments remain very, very difficult, but we know you Laura, and when the going gets tough, you get going!! I hope you feel Nikki's spirit helping you through each day, as I do. Nikki loves you and we do too. Father Michael and our church continue to pray for you, its good to hear your name in church, but we all look forward to the day, when we can just pray for thanks that you are better again and to celebrate that with you!! I went to a workshop that the Leukemia society had at CCMC for school nurses last week, and they talked about you and the teen room! And I was at the Manchester Police Dept. and saw your picture on the blood drive poster! Each day someone asks me about you.. you are so very special to so many people, people who have met you, and people who don't event know you, but know what a courageous girl you are. I am looking forward to seeing you drive your new car! I hope you take me for a ride, I love convertibles too! I also got a new car, (we gave Natalie the caravan, she has her own apartment in Shreveport Louisiana, not a very exciting place to go, but I know any place is better than being sick in a hospital) My new car is a 03 VW Passat, and it has a CD Player! (I guess all the new cars do now, but I didn't have one before) I listen to the CD you made every day, and each time its like a new gift. You have helped me to know how blessed I was to have Nikki in my life and not to focus on just missing her. Of course I will always, always miss her in the physical sense, but I know that she is with me always, and I feel her love stronger than ever, and you have helped me with that since that very first day. I am so glad to have you as a true friend, and I love you. I am so, so sorry, that you and Nikki, and so many other children have suffered and are still suffering...all of us moms wish we could just take it from you, but since we cannot, one thing I know, is that ultimately love is all that matters, and you are loved beyond earthly love. Well, sweet pea, when you are up to having a visit, since I have a new fast car, just have your mom call me. I can bring Joelle, or whatever will fit in my car!! Hugs (no kisses yet, we know about ANCs) and love, Aunt Gail and of course the Girls:)

Just checking in to say hi and see how the big apple is treating ya. By the sounds of all the stuff going on, you are pretty busy with all your treatments. I saw in a note from mom that you may be doing some cool school things. You know as a teacher those things make us give students A's just kidding I know you earn everyone. You get your rest and keep up the good fight my dear. Stay as healthy as you can get. I went with Mrs. G and Mr. G to see Nikki get inducted into the National Honor Society. It was a night of sadness and joy as she was still able to fulfill one of her goals. I forgot to tell ya I had one of those Nikki moments and you were in it. The song you sang at the funeral was playing right before I went into the OR at Hartford Hospital to have my pinkie fixed. I thought of you both. You because you sang your heart and soul out that day and also you had that same OR experience, and thoughts of nikki and you and how great and how much her friendship meant to you. Remember she is watching over you now and keeping you safe. Happy thoughts my girl, rest as much as you can, and get back to CT soon and in great shape. Love the crazy tutor

Hi Laura,

I got your email address from your Mom's business number. Someone called me back to tell me that you are now at Sloan Kettering. Just because I'm not there doesn't mean you are not in my constant thoughts and prayers- because YOU ARE! It's snowing alittle here and you may or may not be seeing it from your window there. But I am thinking of you and how cozy and pretty you looked in your pink fuzzy cap that you wear at night. Hi Laura! It's good to know that you, your mom, and Joelle are doing well. It's nice that you met the educator there and that now you have tons of work to do. Don't worry; you're not really missing anything back in Avon, where everyone else has tons of schoolwork to do. We just got report cards today, so, in a way, it's probably a good thing you're not here.... Hopefully, good news will continue to come your way.                  We miss you back here in CT. It was so great to see you on Tuesday, you really did look good. That hospital room may be small but wait till you see the Ronald McDonald house, it's soooo cool! It's almost like a big hotel but more stuff to do. Hope everything is going well there.:-D

11/5/02 Laura- The challenges never seem to end. You have taken on more chances and made more life decisions in your 15 years, then I have tried to make in my 28. You undoubtly have a responsibility level that few teenagers can comprehend. My prayers include you and your family as you begin another therapy course and are getting adjusted to your surroundings. I know I have been really bad about keeping in touch. Something I have to work on. In any case I have been following you through the website. It sounds like things have been rough. I pray for you all the time and think about you every time I see your face on television in the CCMC commercial. Stay strong, and by the way LOVE THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not too jealous or anything. That bad boy is waiting for you to be behind its wheel. Take care of yourself. Enjoy your time at home and I will be thinking of you. Don't forget--you got an angel on your side. I truly believe that. I know that Nikki is one of my angels. I have felt her more than once.
